Assessment
Prior to admission onto our safe and secure Memory Care Centers, our specially trained experts visit your loved one to determine whether our services are appropriate for the level of care he/she needs. At that time, we also administer the Folstein Mini Mental Exam to help pre-determine an appropriate care plan should your loved one enter our facility.
The decision to seek placement should be considered a decision made in love, based not only on what is best for the caregiver, but also on what is best for the person with memory impairment. We encourage you to tour our memory care centers at Harris Hill or Northgate and discover why they are continuously lauded for progressive models of care and commitment to disease research.
Upon Admission
All rooms come completely furnished, however, you may choose to bring pictures, furniture or familiar items to help the move go somewhat smoother.
Special Programs
A specialized unit is only as specialized as its programming and staff. Our experts receive continuous education and training related to the disease process and successful methods of caring for someone with memory loss.
A successful program also provides opportunities to succeed and is asset-based. We focus on making every event an activity or a therapeutic exercise - eating, dressing and cooking are several examples of familiar tasks that encourage independence and a sense of normalcy. Our knowledgeable staff understands the importance of family interaction and strives to make you a valued partner in the care planning for your loved one.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome and encouraged at our facilities. We have areas available for family gatherings and celebrations, along with more private meeting rooms. Family and friends are encouraged to visit as often as they like.
Support Groups
We understand the stresses that accompany caring for an individual with Alzheimers disease or dementia and are pleased to offer a variety of family support groups. The sessions offer an opportunity for caregivers to express their feelings and share coping techniques in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
