Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program

For those interested in starting a career in nursing, The McGuire Career Center is the place for you! Each year, nearly 300 trainees graduate from The McGuire Group’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program located at The McGuire Career Center, 560 Delaware Ave, Buffalo.

The CNA program involves eight days of paid training at the Career Center followed by six paid days in a facility setting where trainees work side-by-side with Clinical Instructors to initiate the skills they have learned in the classroom.

The program is designed to educate trainees with hands-on skills including transferring techniques, the use of mechanical lifts and feeding and bathing procedures to prepare them for providing superior care to our residents.

After 112 hours of training, individuals are required to pass the New York State certification exam.

To be accepted into the training program, those interested must complete a job application, be interviewed and hired by The McGuire Group. Once hired, your CNA training will be scheduled. Applications may be filled out at any of our health care facility locations or at the Corporate Center; 560 Delaware Ave in downtown Buffalo.

Please note: those interested in becoming a CNA should apply for training at the facility they wish to be employed.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Training Program

The McGuire Group, in partnership with Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES, is pleased to offer a one-of-a-kind Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training program for its Western New York employees and community members.

The 13-month program is taught by BOCES instructors and includes guest lectures from experts at The McGuire Group facilities. Classes are held at Chapel Villa Park in Derby, with clinicals being completed at Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, TLC Hospital in Lakeshore and Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

This program is offered to CNA's who have been employed with the McGuire Group for at least one year. They must pass an entrance exam, complete a personal interview, and demonstrate a commitment to long-term care before acceptance is granted into the program. Upon graduation, students are required to pass the board exam before receiving their license.
