The staff at our facilities have pioneered the
development of specialized programs and services for individuals with memory
loss in Western New York. For more than a decade, our safe and secure Memory
Care Centers have been caring for those with memory impairments such as
Alzheimer's, dementia with Lewy Bodies, Pick's disease and other dementing
illnesses. Our programs are continuously being enhanced based on the latest
research and design models to meet the unique needs of our residents.
The memory care program focuses on providing
emotional and therapeutic care to maintain the remaining strengths and
abilities of each person. Special importance is placed on recognizing
individuality and contributing to the resident’s sense of self-worth.
Specialized Programming
Specialized daily activities and programs are
coordinated by a highly trained staff and include:

Art Programs - These programs provide for a wonderful form of release,
creativity and self-expression

| Music Therapy - Our therapists utilize music’s soothing rhythms to
promote relaxation and encourage socialization while drawing upon one of the
senses that remains the longest

| Massage Therapy - This regimen utilizes the calming power of touch to
help individuals feel calm and reassured
|
| Occupational Therapy - Our specialists encourage the utilization of a
variety of skills to maintain mobility, coordination, balance and strength
|
| Pet Therapy - This form of therapy draws upon memories of beloved pets
and encourages unconditional love
|
Residents also benefit from small group
interaction and a variety of “therapeutic tasks” which encourage participation
and self-expression. In addition, unit modifications such as secured
entrances/exits, visual cues and enclosed park-like courtyards ensure our
residents’ safety and independence.
Support
groups and educational series are held regularly to assist caregivers
in learning more about the disease process and the resources that are available
in their communities.
