Couple Celebrates Golden Anniversary at Harris Hill Nursing Facility

Dr. Dennis Rohan and his wife Susan, who is a resident at The McGuire Group’s Harris Hill Nursing Facility, along with members of their family.

Susan and Dennis plan to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in the most unique way. Even though visiting during the days of COVID makes things tricky, Susan and Dennis aren’t letting that spoil their fun! They’re planning to dine on a delicious meal from Russell’s Steaks, Chops & More during a special “window visit.” Susan will enjoy hers in the facility while Dennis will be outside under a shelter enjoying his. They will even have musical accompaniment from Susan’s brother and wife. The employees at the facility have a knack for creative window visits and plan to have the area festively decorated to help celebrate this golden occasion!

Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm.

Susan Kramer was born on March 20, 1951 in Long Island, NY, while her husband, Dr. Dennis Rohan was born on February 2, 1943 in Spalding, NE. After Dennis’ term in the Air Force ended, he took a job as a veterinarian at the Grand Island Animal Hospital. At that time, Susan’s brother also worked at the clinic and recommended her for the receptionist position. From there, it was, as they say, history. The couple was married on December 19, 1970 at Prince of Peace Church by Monsignor Murphy and enjoyed a honeymoon on Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas. On their 25th wedding anniversary, the Rohan’s children surprised them by having Monsignor Murphy bless their marriage once again at Prince of Peace Church.

The Rohans resided on Grand Island and in Williamsville. They enjoyed caring for animals, swimming, boating and bowling together. In addition, Dennis had a pilot’s license and together they spent time flying in a single engine plane over Niagara Falls and Grand Island.

The couple has been season ticket holders and avid fans of the Buffalo Bills throughout their marriage. The Rohans enjoyed traveling and never left their children behind during the vast number of vacations they took. Once the couple became empty nesters, they expanded their travels even more and added numerous destinations throughout the world to their travel log.

The couple has four children and 9 grandchildren: Janette (Richard) Beikirch of Ontario, NY with children Elizabeth, Katherine and Megan; Jennifer (Scott) Tuttle of Kenmore, NY with children Samuel, Corina and Braeden; Jill (John) Hasiak of Cheektowaga, NY with children Jack, and twins Patrick and Andrew; and Jonathan Rohan of Snyder, NY.

Susan became a resident at Harris Hill Nursing Facility in 2017. She enjoys reminiscing, playing Bingo, trivia and anything having to do with animals.
