Saturday, September 12th marked a special day as Garden Gate Health Care Facility resident Alice Ross and her husband Arnie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
She was born Alice Krisher on December 24, 1933 in Buffalo and Arnie was born on May 24, 1937 in Cherry Tree, PA. They met at Star Ring Manufacturing where they both worked. Alice work there for 18 years and can recall working for $0.75 an hour.
The couple purchased a home in Buffalo in the 1980s and have shared it with 10 dogs over the years. They are parishioners at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and Christ Church.
Alice has been a resident at Garden Gate for nearly two years and enjoys playing Bingo and taking part in activities at the facility. The couple also enjoys visiting with one another through window visits during the days of COVID.
