Emma was born in Kershaw, South Carolina on October 15, 1918. She met her future husband, the late Clarence Adams, at a church event in Cleveland, OH. The Adams resided in Evanston, Illinois and also on Spruce and Monroe Streets in Buffalo. The couple had one child who is deceased. Emma worked as a secretary for Baxtor Laboratories. She is a member of Deliverance Temple on Sherman St in Buffalo and has been friends with the pastor Greg Webster for more than 50 years. She began attending the church in 1981 and served as a Sunday school teacher and head of the Christian Education Department where she mentored children who are now in their 30s.
Emma became a resident at Garden Gate in January and enjoys spending her time reading books, especially by author Nora Roberts.
