Harris Hill Resident Celebrates a Century!

 

WHO/WHAT: Family and friends will gather at a special celebration held for Nora (Roberta) Hambly, a resident at The McGuire Group’s Harris Hill Nursing Facility, in honor of her 100th birthday.

WHEN: Saturday, June 4th from 1:30 – 3:30 pm.

WHERE: Harris Hill Nursing Facility, 2699 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville (across from the Wehrle Golf Dome).

MISC.: Nora was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 23, 1916 and was an only child. She graduated from Lincoln High School at the age of 16 and relocated to Buffalo when her father was transferred for his job. She and her husband, the late Wesley Hambly, met when he was helping the family move in.  They married in 1938 when she was 18. They lived on East Delevan in Buffalo until 1945 and then moved to Williamsville.

The couple had two children, a daughter who passed away as an infant and the late Bob Hambly, a former professor at the Eastman School of Music.

Nora and her husband were very active and enjoyed country line dancing, skiing, ice skating, playing the piano and playing cards. They also liked to travel to the New England states and had a home in Florida for nine years. The couple enjoyed the company of several pets.

Nora has been a resident at Harris Hill Nursing facility for two years. She enjoys attending activity programs, visiting in the facility’s solarium, reading, taking part in pet therapy and watching television.
