For the past five years, the New York State Department of Health has issued a Nursing Home Quality Initiative that evaluates nearly 600 nursing homes in the state based on quality performance. The reports rank facilities by quintile using a number of measurable quality indicators such as pressure ulcers, falls, catheter use, changes in activities of daily living, flu vaccine rates, resident weight loss, rehospitalization rates and more.
The McGuire Group’s Brookhaven Health Care Facility in East Patchogue is the only facility in Suffolk County to have achieved this milestone for five consecutive years and is among a short-list of facilities state-wide to have done so.
Information for the state rankings is calculated and managed by the New York State Department of Health. A consistently high quintile rating is impressive because it highlights a company’s long-term commitment to creating healthier communities and meeting a full spectrum of health care needs.
“Our consistency in achieving the first quintile status is a reflection of the clinical expertise, training and employee commitment that exists at every level within our facility,” stated Susan Grigg, RN, BSN, CRRN, LNC, vice president. “Our team continuously strives to develop innovative new pathways, incorporate best practices and develop programs that enhance our residents’ health and quality of life.”
Services at Brookhaven Health Care Facility include: subacute and outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, palliative care and respite/short-term care. For more information, visit www.brookhavenhealthcarefacility.com.
