McGuire’s Long Island Facility on Short List for Best in State

For the past three years, the New York State Department of Health has issued a Nursing Home Quality Initiative that evaluates more than 600 nursing homes in the state based on quality performance. The reports rank facilities by quintile using a number of measurable quality indicators such as pressure ulcers, falls, catheter use, deterioration in activities of daily living, flu vaccine rates, resident weight loss, rehospitalization rates and more.

The McGuire Group’s six facilities, including Brookhaven Health Care Facility in East Patchogue, are among a short list of 33 facilities state-wide that have achieved the top quintile status for three consecutive years (2013-2015), with The McGuire Group being the only multi-facility provider in the state to have achieved this milestone.

Of the 33 facilities that made the list, Brookhaven Health Care Facility is the only facility in Suffolk County to have been listed for three consecutive years. Additionally, in the most recent list published in January of 2016, Brookhaven scored the highest in Suffolk County, and The McGuire Group’s Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg scored the highest among all Western New York facilities.

The McGuire Group’s six facilities feature more than 1,100 beds and include: Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, Brookhaven Health Care Facility in East Patchogue, Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga, Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville, Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda and Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca.

Information for the state rankings is calculated and managed by the New York State Department of Health.

“Our consistency over the last three years highlights the culture of quality that exists at every level within our facilities,” stated McGuire Group President Stephen Mercurio, RNMS, LNHA, CAS. “We’re focused on creating healthier communities by meeting a full spectrum of needs from short-term rehabilitation to 24-hour care.”

Over the last 40 years, The McGuire Group’s programs have grown in scope and complexity from traditional long-term skilled nursing care to include subacute and outpatient rehabilitation, secured memory care units, palliative care programs and respite/short-term care for individuals seeking temporary options for a loved one. In addition, The McGuire Group has invested millions in the redevelopment and expansion of its facilities creating state-of-the-art environments for intensive healing and care.  For more information visit www.mcguiregroup.com.
