Alice Cora (Brennan) Tyner, a resident at The McGuire Group’s Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda, celebrated her 100 birthday at a party in her honor.

She was born on September 14, 1919 to James and Alice Brennan. She met her husband, the late Warren Tyner, at church and they were married on November 8, 1941. Warren was a World War II veteran and passed away in 1956 at the age of 33.

Alice lived in the Riverside section of Buffalo for more than 50 years. She worked at a local grocer and dairy and taught arts and crafts at Hope & Northwest Buffalo Community Center. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Buffalo where she was active in the Altar Guild and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Riverside Homemakers Association and served as its secretary for many years. She enjoyed visiting Florida and Alleghany State Park.

Alice has four children: Patricia Farnham, Susan Tyner, Deborah Harmon and the late Warren Jr.  She has been a resident at Northgate Health Care Facility for three years. She enjoys playing bingo, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and cooking shows, visiting with family and friends, and feeding the birds in the courtyard.

Northgate Health Care Facility provides 24-hour skilled nursing care, subacute and outpatient rehabilitation, hospice care, specialized memory care and respite/short-term services. The facility continuously receives five-star ratings from the federal government and is among a short list of facilities that finished in the first quintile of NY State’s quality benchmarking pool for 6 out of 6 years.
