Sierra Bermudez is a former junior volunteer at Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda who donated her time to the residents and staff for more than four years. She is now battling cancer for the third time, and the specialist she needs to see is located in New York City.
So, the employees at Northgate are paying it forward as a thank you for all the years Sierra has helped them. Throughout the month of April, the facility hosted a basket raffle and hot dog sale raising $1,000 to help cover expenses.
Sierra is currently attending college in Syracuse to become an RN. She eventually wants to work at Roswell Park Cancer Institute doing research.
Northgate Health Care Facility provides skilled nursing care, subacute and outpatient rehabilitation, hospice care, memory care and respite/short-term services. In January 2016, New York State released its most recent quality benchmarking results, which evaluate more than 600 facilities using measurable indicators of quality. All of The McGuire Group’s New York State facilities were listed in the top quintile. Currently, The McGuire Group is the only multi-facility operator in Western New York with all facilities in the top quintile. In addition, the facilities continuously receive outstanding star ratings from the federal government. For more information, visit www.mcguiregroup.com.
